Henry Hore signs long-term contract extension

Brisbane Roar’s Henry Hore has been rewarded for a superb first Isuzu UTE A-League season, signing a long-term contract extension with his local club.

The Queenslander’s recommitment comes after an eye-catching five-goal campaign, which culminated in him winning the side’s Breakthrough Player of the Year award.

“It’s pretty special,” Hore said.

“Signing this contract with my hometown club, there’s a bit of security there. I can put my full focus into the club.”

Formerly a Brisbane Roar Youth team member, Hore returned to the club last September and went on to appear 24 times across all competitions.

He scored his first Isuzu UTE A-League goal in the 1-0 win over Perth Glory in January and notched four more times throughout February, March and April.

“For my first season in the A-League, I was pretty happy individually,” the 22-year-old said.

“As a team, we want to achieve a lot more over the next few years. I think we can. A lot of the boys are staying on, so hopefully we can continue building the culture and kick on next season.”

Hore will look to carry his momentum through the upcoming pre-season, which includes marquee matches against Aston Villa and Leeds United in July.

“I can’t wait to face these Premier League sides,” he said. “I’m buzzing. To play against the big names, big clubs, that’s the dream.

“I can’t wait to see how we go.”
