The way Thomas Broich sees it is that it has never been about individuals at Brisbane Roar and that’s still the case as he prepares to notch his 150th Hyundai A-League match for the club against Melbourne Victory at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday (6.30pm KO).
The German marquee man made light of his impending impressive personal milestone today and put the focus where the entire playing group wants it to be with five rounds of the regular season remaining.
“It’s about getting another Premiership and Championship if possible,” said Broich (who has played 164 games for the Roar across all competitions).
“We are in a really great position right now . . . we have a lot of home games coming up too so we have every chance to go for the Premiership again.
“It is just really inspiring to be in such a position.”

Broich says the come-from-behind 3-2 win over the Wanderers last weekend was timely and much-needed, but also underlined the strong character in the squad.
“It gave us a lot of confidence,” he said.
“We played an excellent first half, not so good the first half an hour in the second half but then the reaction after that was just awesome.
“It was a really good performance and showed we have character in the team so there are lots of positives.
“That’s the kind of belief you need to instil in the team and to do that against such a good team is even more important.”
Broich has no doubts of the enormity of the challenge ahead in taking all three points this weekend and staying in touch with fellow competition leaders Adelaide United and Western Sydney.
“They (Victory) are the reigning Champions and they have got the quality you need to win a Championship and they have done it already. They are a danger team,” Broich said.
“I highly rate them. They have beaten us four times in a row so we have a point to prove there. I am really looking forward to that game.”
And while Broich was speaking to the media today, new signing Tommy Oar was sweating it out in the background doing additional fitness work as he works towards a suitable level to be considered for selection by Head Coach John Aloisi.
“He (Oar) had to do the hard yards today. It is a very intense style of football (the Roar plays) so he has to get used to that I suppose,” Broich said.
“But you can see already football-wise he is a great addition to the squad.”
