Theo ready to Roar again

Goalkeeper Michael Theo has targeted the Roar’s 17 July match against Liverpool FC for his playing comeback after a final operation last week on his left wrist.

The five-time Hyundai A-League Championship winner went into hospital for the removal of the metal plate and nine screws that held together bones in his wrist that were shattered during shooting practice in the final week of the pre-season.

The injury restricted Theo to just four appearances this season.

He faces another five weeks on the sidelines, to allow the screw holes in the bones to heal, then will begin training to be fit for the highly anticipated clash with the Reds at SuncorpĀ Stadium.

Theo said his focus was going forward rather than dwelling on the frustration of the past season.

“I’ve just tried to remain positive,” Theo said.

“I’ve had a pretty good run with injuries in the past so I’ve just put this season down to that’s football.

“It would have been good to be fit for Villarreal (who play the Roar at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday, 3 June) but the plan always was to get the plate out in the off-season so I’ve done that as soon as I could to be ready for the Liverpool game.”

Theo said there was a real buzz around training about the forthcoming games against Villarreal and Liverpool.

“Everyone likes to test themselves against the best and two have teams coming here from two of the most competitive leagues in the world is great for the Roar players and our fans,” he said.

Tickets to Brisbane Roar versus Villarreal at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday, 3 June, start from just $16 for kids and $28 for adults (plus credit card and transaction fees). For more information or to book tickets clickĀ  here .
