To the Brisbane Roar Community,
In the spirit of transparency and commitment to our values, I wish to provide you with an update following our recent statement regarding the incidents that occurred outside Suncorp Stadium last Sunday.
Since the occurrence, we have conducted a comprehensive investigation and review of the events. This process has involved collecting various accounts and evidence to understand the sequence of events accurately and the actions that led to certain escalations.
We are aware of concerns raised by some of our members and fans regarding alleged police misconduct during these incidents. We take these allegations very seriously and have been in direct communication with as many fans as possible who believe they have been affected. We stand by our fans and members and are committed to ensuring a fair and thorough investigation by the responsible Commission.
Engaging with our active supporter groups have always been a priority, and considering recent events, we have been in discussions to further enhance the safety and experience of our loyal supporters. I am pleased to announce that we will be implementing a formal Supporter Marshall Program for the Brisbane Roar Football Club. This initiative will involve trained and experienced Supporter Marshalls who will act as a liaison between our fans, the club, and security personnel, including the Queensland Police Service (QPS) and respective stadiums and venues. The program will aim to enhance effective communication and the safety of our supporters, whilst providing a structured mechanism for escalation protocols, ensuring swift and effective responses to any concerns or incidents.
While we prioritise the safety and enjoyment of our fans, it is necessary to reiterate that we do not condone behaviour that contravenes the law, whether by individuals or authorities. Our club is dedicated to fostering a friendly and safe environment for all fans of the Brisbane Roar and/or other football clubs. This commitment extends to ensuring that all actions, by fans and officials alike, adhere to the highest standards of legality and respect.
As we move forward, our focus remains on fostering a positive, inclusive, and safe environment for everyone involved with Brisbane Roar Football Club. These measures reflect our dedication to ensuring that every fan feels supported and secure at every event.
