Young Roar suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Sunshine Coast Wanderers in their final Kappa Pro Series Group B match on Wednesday night.
A Ty Cobb strike wasn’t enough for Roar as the Wanderers took all three points thanks to goals from Max Brown, Jeremy Stewart and Jhairah Taylor.
Max Brown capitalised on a defensive mishap in the 30th minute to send the hosts into the break with a lead before Jeremy Stewart doubled their advantage with a penalty five minutes into the second half.
Roar immediately pulled a goal back through Ty Cobb, who slammed a powerful finish into the back of the net from just inside the area to halve the deficit.
Cobb’s goals which is his second in competitive matches this season came after the winger assisted the winning goal in Sunday’s 3-2 victory over Olympic in NPL action.
Substitute, Taylor rounded out the scoring five minutes after entering the fray with a 71st minute strike to ensure the home side would take all three points.
Wednesday’s 3-1 defeat means Young Roar are eliminated from this year’s Kappa Pro Series.
Next up for Young Roar is a clash against Gold Coast United in NPL Queensland Round 10 action at Nudgee Recreation Reserve on Sunday, May 12.
