Brisbane Roar have bolstered their defensive stocks with the addition of Ben Warland, who joins the club on a two-year-deal ahead of the 2024/25 Isuzu UTE A-League season.
The towering 27-year-old central defender follows team-mate Harry Van Der Saag from Adelaide United as Ruben Zadkovich’s second signing ahead of the new campaign.
Warland has amassed 84 A-League appearances across spells at Adelaide United and Sydney FC, scoring three goals in that time.
The defender, who was brought to Sydney FC by Graham Arnold won two A-League Championships and Premierships and played in the AFC Champions League during his time with the Sky Blues.
The AIS graduate, who has represented Australia at U20 level said he couldn’t wait to get started in Brisbane.
“I have signed with Brisbane because of their clear ambition to win along with playing exciting & entertaining football,” Warland said.
“The coaching & back-room staff had a big influence in my decision through the conversations that were had. Seeing the club has a good culture and good people within made my decision even easier.
“My ambition for my time in Brisbane is to win, help bring the Roar back to where they should be on the table and help build on the great team culture they already have.
“Personally, I want to play every game and keep improving as a player along with being a leader within the team. I also want to help the younger players along the way.
“My family and I are very excited to be joining Brisbane Roar, we are looking forward to a new experience and we are going to thoroughly enjoy it.”
Warland will link up with his new team mates when pre-season commences in June.
Stay tuned with a number more arrivals for the club’s A-League Men’s squad set to be announced in the coming weeks.
