Young Roar are up against NPL Queensland league leaders, Gold Coast Knights in Round 17 action at Perry Park on Saturday afternoon.
Andre Bennett’s side start the weekend in tenth position on the league table with just four rounds remaining in the regular season.
Roar come into Saturday’s match off the back of a 1-1 draw against Rochedale where Ivan Ozzi’s eighth goal of the season cancelled out a Marek Madle opener.
Knights defeated Brisbane City 2-1 last weekend to move seven points clear at the top of the table as they close in on a second straight NPL Premiership.
The 2023 treble winner boast several ex-Roar players in their squad including Bradden Inman, Aaron Reardon and Sam Klein as well as Head Coach, Scott Mcdonald.
The sides have already met once this season with Knights running out 4-2 victors at Lex Bell Oval back in Round 6.
Goals from Shae Cahill and James Nikolovski weren’t enough for Roar as a Godfrey Debele brace couple with strikes from Zander Guy and Bradden gave Knights all three points.
Roar and Knights U23 sides will go head-to-head for the second time in a matter of days when they meet in the afternoon’s earlier kick off at Perry Park.
Knights prevailed 3-0 when the sides battled it out at the Croatian Sports Centre on Wednesday night leaving Roar level with Moreton City Excelsior at the top of the league with four rounds remaining in the regular season.
Young Roar welcome back Charlie Parkin and Rhys Williams who both represented Queensland at the National Youth Championships in Wollongong last week while Lucas Herrington is still away with the Young Socceroos at the ASEAN U19 boys Championship in Indonesia.
