Karl Dodd appointed Brisbane Roar NPL Head Coach

Brisbane Roar are pleased to confirm the appointment of Karl Dodd as the club’s new NPL Head Coach ahead of the 2025 season.

Dodd, who is a Queenslander that played for the club in the A-League’s inaugural season returns to the club with extensive experience both locally and internationally as a player and coach.

The 43-year-old has previously spent time at Roar working as High Performance Manager, Dodd also worked in Newcastle Jets A-League set up as a Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Most recently Dodd spent two years working as Head Coach of Brisbane City where he lead the club to their first NPL Queensland finals appearance in ten years as well as the Australia Cup Round of 32.

Prior to his time at City Dodd spent five years as the Head Coach of the Guam National Team.

As a player Dodd, who also played professionally in Scotland, Romania and Hong Kong was part of Roar’s squad for the first season of the A-League before going on to represent Wellington Phoenix and North Queensland Fury.

“I really enjoy working with players who want to better themselves and play at the highest level. This role allows me to help aspiring young players achieve their dreams of being a professional footballer.

“It would be great to see as many young Queenslanders go onto to play for the Roar A-league team and beyond.”

Dodd will be assisted by Gabriel Hawash, who joins the coaching staff after leading Holland Park to the FQPL 2 Premiership and promotion which earned him 2024 FQPL 2 Men’s Coach of the Season honours.

Dodd and Hawash will work closely with the A-League Men technical staff to develop the next generation of Queensland talent, with a clear pathway to the professional leagues.
