Brisbane Roar look to kick start their 2024/25 Isuzu UTE A-League campaign with three points when they travel to face Melbourne Victory in Round three action at AAMI Park on Saturday afternoon.
Roar come into Saturday’s clash off the back of a last ditch 3-2 defeat at the hands of Sydney FC last weekend where despite goals from Thomas Waddingham and Rafael Struick a 90th minute Jaiden Kucharski strike saw the visitors take all three points.
Victory start the weekend in second position on the league table and came from behind to defeat Macarthur 2-1 thanks to goals from Daniel Arzani and Rene Piscopo in their last outing.
Roar head to AAMI Park looking to maintain their strong record against Victory, having tasted defeat just once in their last eleven league meetings with Patrick Kisnorbo’s side.
Saturday’s match which kicks off at 4pm AEST will be broadcast live on Paramount+, 10 Play & 10 Bold.
WHAT WAS SAID
“It’s just about trying to get a 90-minute performance for us and trying to get some full phase of play football happening, which again comes with games. The longer these players are together the more we’re going to grow.” Ruben Zadkovich
“The belief is strong. We played against some big teams, especially last season and got good results, so I think as long as we we believe in each other and execute game plan anything can happen with us.” Antonee Burke-Gilroy
TEAM NEWS
Neicer Acosta remains sidelined for this weekend’s match while Scott Neville edges towards a return from a knee injury that’s kept him out of action since the back end of last season.
Florin Berenguer aims to pick up further minutes after returning from injury and grabbing an assist against Sydney FC last weekend.
