Brisbane Roar suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Wellington Phoenix at Porirua Park on Sunday afternoon.
A pair of goals from Annalie Longo was enough to end Roar’s winning streak in windy Wellington conditions.
It was in the 34th minute that Longo opened her season account for the Phoenix after capitalising on a mistake in the Roar backline.
Emily Pringle responded just before the break with her second goal for the club in consecutive games after a stunning run and finish equalised the scoreline.
Longo scored her second of the afternoon with a long range strike after beating Roar defence to seal the victory for the hosts.
Laini Freier made her long-awaited Ninja A-League debut after missing the start of the season with a leg injury, and will look for more minutes in the upcoming weeks.
Roar host the Central Coast Mariners at Perry Park next Saturday afternoon to attempt to return to the winner’s circle.
