ALW R12 Match Preview: Brisbane Roar vs Adelaide United

Brisbane Roar are determined to return to the winner’s circle in their Round 12 clash against fourth-placed Adelaide United as they return to Perry Park this Sunday evening.

In what will be a tough match-up, with both sides in the top four, Roar will look to bounce back from their 2-0 loss to reigning Premiers Melbourne City while Adelaide United come into this game off a 2-1 win over Wellington Phoenix.

WHAT WAS SAID

18-year-old midfielder Zara Kruger has been getting regular minutes in recent games and hopes to make an impact in Sunday’s clash at home.

“Super grateful to get the minutes with training hard and working hard in the sessions,” Kruger said.

“With the three games in a week, it was a good time for us girls to get time on the pitch.”

“It’s going to be a tough game; they’ve been doing really well this season so I think if we go out there with intensity and the fight from the first whistle to the last we’ll take away those three points at home.”

LAST TIME WE MET

These two teams last met in Round 20 of the 2023/24 season, where Roar secured three points in a 2-1 victory in Adelaide.

Deborah-Anne De La Harpe opened the scoring in the ninth minute after getting the best of Adelaide defence and tucking it away to the bottom left corner.

Mid-way through the first half, Chelsie Dawber found her way around Roar goalkeeper Keeley Richards to place the ball into goals for the hosts to make it 1-1.

Tameka Yallop returned our lead in the 74th minute after getting on the end of a through ball by Mia Corbin and beating goalkeeper Claudia Jenkins to tuck it away.
