Young Roar chase momentum building win down the M1

Young Roar look to return up the M1 with three points for the second time in four days when they face Gold Coast United in NPL Queensland Round 17 action at Coplicks Sports Park on Saturday afternoon.

Karl Dodd’s side come into Saturday’s match off the back of a 1-0 win over defending Premiers, Gold Coast Knights in midweek action at the Croatian Sports Centre.

Ivan Ozzi popped up with the games decisive goal in the 12th minute when he got in behind the Knights defence and lazered a finish into the bottom corner at the near post for what was his fourth of the 2025 campaign.

Wednesday’s win leaves Young Roar in tenth position on the NPL Queensland ladder on 17 points, eight points outside the finals spots and fourth placed Gold Coast United with six games remaining in the 2025 regular season.

United, who are coached by Craig Midgely suffered a 7-0 defeat at the hands of Peninsula Power last weekend following an eventful transfer window that saw five players arrive and seven depart Coplicks Family Sports Park.

Roar and United have already met twice this season with Roar prevailing by four goal margins on both occasions.

Saturday’s action at Coplicks Sports Park gets underway at 3pm and will be live streamed on FQTV and the Football Queensland YouTube channel.
