To Brisbane Roar Members and Fans,
I wanted to provide you with an update after it was reported that we as a football club hold a debt owed to the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS). When the ATO contacted the club informing us of a historical debt owed to them, we naturally had to re-shift finances to ensure the debt was paid in full – this has happened. Because of this, we authorised a payment plan with the QAS that both parties agreed on and one that is being honoured with a small amount remaining. Regardless, the QAS has chosen to pull their funding. Â
Let it be clear however, that Brisbane Roar has a home at Brendale thanks to the immense support of the City of Moreton Bay, a home where our women’s program will relocate to for the commencement of pre-season in late September.Â
Apart from this, we have seen a number of departures of late, including fan favourite Laini Freier who made the decision to retire from the professional game to pursue a career outside of sport. Whilst we were sad to see a Commbank Matilda depart, we understand her decision to depart and wish her all the best for the future.
Moving forward, we will be welcoming several players to the squad of both national and international pedigree. In addition to this, several pre-season fixtures are set to be announced shortly to help the team prepare for the new campaign.
Thank you.
