A last gasp Jordan Lauton header has earned Brisbane Roar a point against the Central Coast Mariners in a 2-2 draw at Polytec Stadium on Friday evening.
The Roar started quickly at Polytec Stadium and ultimately took the lead through a 4th minute expert Sam Klein header before settling well into the contest with the Mariners.
The remainder of the half saw a hard fought contest between both sides without yielding any clear cut chances.
The second half started with the Mariners pushing to find the equaliser and it came via Mariners midfielder Jesse Mantell whose strike from inside the area levelled the scores in the 53rd minute.
Two minutes later, the Roar almost went ahead for a second time when James McGarry’s strike from range crashed against the post before being cleared by the Mariners defence. In the 58th minute however, the Mariners took the lead through Nathaniel Blair who headed home from close range.
15 minutes later, a swift Roar move saw a Youstin Salas cross find Henry Hore at the back post however the attacker’s header rattled the crossbar much to the delight of Mariners keeper, Andrew Redmayne.
From there, the Roar pushed to find an equaliser however the Mariners defence denied all attempts until Jordan Lauton popped up in the 93rd minute to earn his side a big point on the road with a last gasp header.
