The opening 45 minutes of the contest saw a tight and tense affair with neither side managing to find the back of the net despite Olympic hitting the crossbar from a corner midway through the half.
It was the second half that saw the bulk of the action and it was a pressing Roar who opened the scoring thanks to Justin Vidic in the 63rd minute after he lobbed the Olympic goal keeper from inside the area.
Minutes later, Sabit Ngor broke clean through on goal after a rapid counter attack, cooly slotting the ball low and past the keeper to quickly double Roar’s advantage. The game was ultimately put to in the 77th minute after defender Jacob Nasso headed home at the back post from an Ngor corner before wheeling away in celebration.

The Roar now move onto the last sixteen of the competition where they will face Sydney FC with match details to be confirmed in the days ahead.
