Brisbane Roar is excited to announce the club has signed defender and Philippines national team captain Hali Long ahead of the 2026/27 A-League Women season.
Long, 31, is the most-capped player in Philippines women’s football history with 106 international appearances. The Missouri-born defender started every match of the Philippines’ run at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, where they faced Switzerland, New Zealand and Norway, and reached her 100th cap at the 2025 SEA Games, becoming just the second player in the nation’s history to hit the milestone.Â
Long’s club career has taken her from college soccer with the Little Rock Trojans through to Kaya FC-Iloilo in the Philippines, where she spent six seasons and captained the side, before a loan spell at Thai club BGC-College of Asian Scholars for continental competition.
A centre-back by trade, Long adds a wealth of international experience to Johnathan Clemente’s backline.
Head Coach Johnathan Clemente said Long’s leadership and physicality would be immediately felt at the club.
“Hali is a genuine, proper defender. She loves to tackle and head the ball in all circumstances and she’ll no doubt put her body on the line for Brisbane,” Clemente said. “A leader and legend of Philippines football as captain with 106 international caps.”
Speaking on signing for the club this season, Long said, “I’m excited to take on a new challenge in a new country and ready to push myself while helping the team reach its goals this year. I can’t wait to meet the girls and get started!”
