Roar down Football Queensland All Stars in front of strong crowd

Brisbane Roar have defeated the Football Queensland All Stars 3-1 in front of more than 1500 fans at Gioca Stadium, Newmarket on Saturday evening.

The Roar started quickly against the All Stars, flying out to a two goal lead within the first fifteen minutes with both finishes coming via the way of youngster Emmett Shaw. The midfielder found the opener five minutes into the match when a Nam Tae-hee half volley deflected near goal and finding its way to Shaw who fired it home from close range.

Shaw’s second came six minutes later when he picked up the ball near halfway and charged towards goal. Upon reaching the eighteen yard box Shaw let rip a low drive which flew into the bottom left hand corner of the goal.

The remainder of the half saw a tight and tense contest with much of the play happening in midfield. The early period of the second half saw the All Stars pull one goal back nine minutes into the second half after losing the ball in midfield.

The All Stars continued to push throughout half for an equaliser however it was the Roar who found a third late on through Justin Vidic who converted from the spot after being brought down in box. That proved to be the decisive goal with the Roar claiming a 3-1 win.
