Costa Rican striker Jean Carlo Solorzano will be front-and-centre for his first Brisbane Roar training session at Ballymore Stadium tomorrow.
Solorzano arrives in Brisbane on Thursday evening and the 22-year-old has been making sure he-s ready for the Hyundai A-League 2010/11 season.
Brisbane coach Ange Postecoglou said he was excited to have the striker in the country as the club looked towards on-field success in the coming season.
“We-re pretty keen to get him out here and start training,” Postecoglou said.
“He has been looking after himself … and we hope we can integrate him into the squad as quickly as possible and get him up to speed.
“Obviously he will be a little jet-lagged, but I know he is keen to get started straight away.”
With just over a week before the season opener against Gold Coast United, Postecoglou and his coaching staff will be working hard to prepare Solorzano for life in the Hyundai A-League.
Brazilian striker Reinaldo remains doubtful for the first M1 Derby of the year with a hamstring injury meaning Brisbane fans might just get to see a glimpse of Solorzano-s potential at Skilled Park.
“With Reinaldo maybe not ready for the game we may use Solorzano as an option off the bench,” Postecoglou said.
“Obviously it will be too much to throw him in straight away but certainly he could be involved with the squad.
“But we will wait and see before we make that decision.”
The club-s twelfth off-season signing, Solorzano-s arrival also marks the conclusion of Postecoglou-s rebuilding of the Brisbane squad.
Adding local, national and international flavour to the squad, Postecoglou said he was confident the revamped team had the potential to be successful.
“We-re very happy with the squad … and I think it-s a strong squad,” he said.
“Everyone who has done pre-season has done well and we-ve only got a couple of injuries at the moment.
“Hopefully we can manage that throughout the year and the medical department will be working hard at keeping the boys fresh and in good condition.
“So we-re very happy with the rebuilding process and the recruiting … and I-m more than confident with the squad we have.”
