Brisbane Roar coach Ange Postecoglou has consolidated his defensive plan for the upcoming Hyundai A-League season following the announcement of a two year contract for versatile defender Milan Susak.
The Sydney-born Susak returns to Australia after finishing two successful seasons playing in the German third division with SpVgg Unterhaching.
The defender joins Brisbane with a strong European football education having also spent five years playing in the Serbian leagues.
A former Adelaide United player, Susak has also tasted action in the Hyundai A-League and the Asian Champions League.
Able to play anywhere across the backline, Susak-s signing provides even more defensive options for Postecoglou.
“Susak give us some great options … and if you look at the season, there are lot more games and we-re going to need a strong squad,” Postecoglou said.
“I think he-ll be fighting for a first XI spot but also giving us a lot of depth in the right areas.
“I think he-s the kind of guy who has a real desire to succeed and who-ll do well in the Hyundai A-League.”
And with just two months until the opening match against Gold Coast United, Susak-s name won-t be the last signature added to the squad-s 2010/11 roster.
With an eye on the overseas transfer market, Postecoglou is determined to add another striker to the squad-s attack.
“We have one visa spot left and that-s where we are concentrating,” Postecoglou said.
“We have a few options but I-m not going to rush into that one, I want to get it right.
“We need depth all over the park … with such a condensed calendar and injuries and fatigue, I want us to have a strong squad.”
