Brisbane Roar has bolstered its midfield firepower with the signing of former Australian youth international Rocky Visconte.
Signed on a one year deal from Scottish Premier League side Heart of Midlothian, 20 year-old Visconte joins the Roar after spending four years plying his trade in Scottish football.
Making his debut for Hearts in the Scottish Cup earlier this year, Visconte also played for first division side Ayr United in a short-term loan deal.
In a positive sign for both the Roar and the Hyundai A-league, the talented winger decided a move back home was a step in the right direction.
Bringing speed, attacking flair and a drive to succeed to the left side of the Roar-s attack, Visconte slides directly into a position recently vacated by the departing Tommy Oar and Michael Zullo.
Roar coach Ange Postecoglou said he was pleased to have captured a youthful attacking gem of Visconte-s quality and enthusiasm.
āVisconte is an out-and-out left sided player, he-s quick and he-s got a good left foot,ā Postecoglou said.
āHe-s had two or three years in Scotland and now really wants to break through.
āHe-s at that age where he is very, very keen to now make a name for himself.ā
Coach of Visconte at international youth level, Postecoglou said the blend of his former prodigy and his current Roar squad would be a potent mix.
āWe are a good fit for him as a club because there is a position for him that I-m sure he-ll be challenging for,ā he said.
āHe was a promising young player and by all reports he-s developed well since then.
āI think it-s a good time for him to come back.ā
