Liberty A-League report: Roar edged after Wanderers penalty

Brisbane Roar were made to rue a number of missed opportunities in a frustrating 1-0 defeat to Western Sydney Wanderers in the Liberty A-League on Sunday.

Bryleeh Henry’s second-half penalty separated the teams at full-time despite the Roar registering 22 shots to 10 on a warm afternoon at Moreton Daily Stadium.

Brisbane will take some positives from several impressive individual performances plus a first start for midfielder Rie Kitano.

Natalie Tathem also continued her return to full fitness with half an hour off the bench, while youngsters Isabella Shuttleworth and Heidi Dennis featured in the matchday squad for the first time.

The team has a week now to regroup and prepare for next Sunday’s clash with Wellington Phoenix in Wollongong.

GOALS

Western Sydney Wanderers | Bryleeh Henry (65′)

0-1 – Olivia Price breaks into the box and dodges a couple of challenges before being brought down. Henry converts the subsequent spot-kick.
