Young Roar hunting two on the trot

Our Young Roar are back in front of their home fans this Sunday afternoon when they face Adelaide United Youth at Ipswich’s Eric Evans Reserve (2:30pm KO).

The Roar are coming off an impressive 2-0 victory over Melbourne City last week where they controlled the majority of the contest.

Young Roar Head Coach Drew Sherman was full of praise for the defensive effort last weekend and the side’s ability to limit City’s time and space on the ball.

“We defended much better [than in the Round 1 defeat against Perth Glory] and limited City to shots from range and only chances in transition,” Sherman said following last weekend’s victory.

The Roar will take plenty of confidence into Sunday’s clash in what is likely to be an exciting clash in Ipswich against a talented Adelaide United outfit who put three goals past Melbourne Victory Youth in Round 1.

Brisbane’s Head Coach believes the result on Sunday will come down to game management against the dangerous South Australian-based side.

“Adelaide will be another good test, we know they’ve performed strongly over the years and it will be no different this season I’m sure,” Sherman said.

“Sunday will be another good opportunity for the team to learn how to win. We know we have a young group, but it’s about learning to manage the contest in our favour throughout the 90 minutes.”

Captain Jay Barnett is looking forward to Sunday as another test against some of the best young crop of talent in the country.

“We think we have some of the best young talent here at Brisbane,” Barnett added.

“All the other teams have decent players as well so it’s good to test yourself week in, week out.”

Young Roar

The Young Roar will be searching for their first win against Adelaide since the 2016/17 season.

After breaking a similar drought last week against City, there’s nothing to suggest the Roar can’t do it again.
