Our Roar Women are preparing for what will be a thrilling hit out against last season’s Westfield W-League runners-up Sydney FC at Seymour Shaw Park on Sunday (3pm KO QLD time)
Looking to continue their impressive record on the road, the Roar Women will be chasing another three points this weekend following last round’s 1-0 victory over the Jets.
English international Chioma Ubogagu acknowledged the importance of continuing the side’s positive momentum.
“Every game I’ve been really excited for. It [the Westfield W-League season] is only 12 rounds long, so every game counts massively in terms of points on the ladder. Every game I want to compete and help the team,” Ubogagu said.
The attacking-minded squad have seamlessly created opportunities in the front third and will be focusing on their conversion ahead of Sunday.
“We have a lot of attacking minded players in our team and it’s been fun to combine with everyone, even our holding midfielders who love to play that killer pass through,” Ubogagu continued.
The combination between attacking duo Yuki Nagasato and Ubogagu proved to be the difference in last week’s win over the jets and the pair have continued to work hard to perfect that combination.
“I’ve been doing a lot of shooting with Yuki — we stay back after training a lot. Being out on the park with her and watching her habits is truly amazing,” Ubogagu added.
“Every day she’s doing shooting and I’m lucky to be able to join in. I believe from doing these things at practice, when it comes to the games, it becomes a habit and we will start executing.”
After a similarly slow start to last season, The Sky Blues won’t be underestimated after climbing the ranks late in Season 10.
A ten-day break for the Roar could however prove beneficial in the latter stages for the visitors.
