Preview: Roar Women v Adelaide United

Our Roar Women will be looking to build momentum ahead of another Westfield W-League finals campaign in their final regular season fixture on Friday night.

Our Women face Adelaide United at Marden Sports Complex (6:30pm KO) where a win would secure a home semi-final and keep the hopes of a second consecutive Premiership alive.

Spirts are high within the group following an impressive display in a 4-1 win over Canberra United last week. Four different scorers found the back of the net including Allira Toby, whoā€™s recent goal-scoring form will have the Reds defence on guard.

ā€œFor me, I think the season has been the best one yet. Iā€™ve been consistent and playing 90 minutes week in, week out at the moment,ā€ Toby said.

ā€œIā€™m happy to be giving goals and scoring for the team ā€” I canā€™t score without them so Iā€™m just glad to be doing my part.

ā€œWe want to go back-to-back, we want to go out there this weekend and take the three points and have a positive performance going into the finals.”

Last weekā€™s win guaranteed a top-four finish for Mel Andreattaā€™s side who canā€™t wait for the thrills of sudden-death football.

ā€œWe love finals footy and weā€™re all very excited to finally be going in to the business end of the season,ā€ Toby continued.

ā€œWe want to work hard for each other and we donā€™t want to let anyone down so weā€™re still going to go out there and fight hard for each other. ā€œ

The Reds took all three points in the only previous meeting this season, but Adelaide has been a happy hunting ground for the Roar. In six previous trips, the Roar Women have taken all three points on five occasions.
