Preview: Young Roar v Lions FC

The squad training at Golden hour | FC Sports Media

Our Young Roar are set for one of the biggest tests in the NPL Queensland when they head to Lions Stadium on Saturday night to face defending Champions Lions FC (7pm KO).

After being edged out by Moreton Bay on Tuesday night, the Young Roar are looking to return to the winner’s circle with victory over Lions this weekend.

Despite taking an early lead through Bryce Bafford, who continued his rich run of scoring form, our Young Roar were pegged back by four second half goals as the Jets ran out 4-2 winners at the Logan Football Complex.

Lions, who currently occupy second position on the league table, were also in action mid-week, claiming a 4-0 victory over Brisbane Strikers.

Young Roar

The Young Roar’s away record holds them in good stead going into Saturdayā€™s match, having won three of their five matches on the road this season.

The side currently sit seventh on the NPL Queensland ladder, just three points outside the competition’s top four.

Zach Duncan, who had featured in every match this season bar Tuesdayā€™s clash against Moreton Bay, became the latest Young Roar star to make his Hyundai A-League debut when he came on as a second half substitute against Melbourne Victory last weekend.

Powell

He joins a growing list of Young Roar stars to have made Hyundai A-League debuts this season, including Aaron Reardon, Jay Barnett & Izaack Powell.

Saturdayā€™s match will be live streamed on the Football Queensland YouTube page.
