Our Young Roar have the chance to secure a second NPL QLD win against Western Pride this season on their return to the Logan Football Complex on Sunday night (5pm KO).
The Young Roar are aiming for a repeat of the 3-1 win at Briggs Road in the opening round of the NPL QLD 2019 season when they host the Ipswich-based outfit on Sunday.
The home side come into Sundayās clash in high spirits having claimed a seasonās best 7-1 win over Magpies Crusaders United in Mackay last weekend.
Sunday’s clash is all the beginning of a run of four straight home matches at the Logan Football Complex for the Young Roar.
Meetings with Redlands United (May 29), Sunshine Coast FC (June 2) & SWQ Thunder FC (June 9) are to follow.
Young Roar forward Jyi Oakes, who notched his second goal of the 2019 campaign in Mackay last weekend, says his side are looking to build on a strong showing in their last outing.
āIt was a good performance & a good win. It was good to have the weekend away as well, it was pretty fun and a good bonding experience,ā Oakes said.
āWe moved the ball around pretty well, much better than we did against [Gold Coast] Knights and Olympic and we stayed in the game a lot longer than we have in recent weeks.
āWe seemed to relax in front of goal a lot more, we were quite composed and not scared in our play.ā
The 17-year old added his side are fully focused on picking up another three points against Pride in Sundayās match.
āWeāre hoping to get another win, obviously we got a win against them first round of the season and I got a goal which was good – weāre just aiming to pick up another three points,ā Oakes continued.
āTheyāre going to come out and press us a lot. They did it the first round as well so weāve got to make sure we move the ball well and stay composed,ā Oakes concluded.
