Brisbane Roar’s complete focus is gearing up for the Hyundai A-League Round 1 against Perth Glory as preparations continued this week on the Fraser Coast, according to midfielder Jay O’Shea.

The Roar are now into their second day of their brief pre-season camp on the Fraser Coast, with the squad set to take on a Football Wide Bay Select outfit on Saturday evening at the Fraser Coast Sports and Recreation Precinct (5pm KO).

Oā€™Shea, one of a number of new faces in this seasons Brisbane Roar squad, says his side’s week on the Fraser Coast provides them with another opportunity gel ahead of the new season.

ā€œI think itā€™s really good for the team environment because obviously thereā€™s so many new players, you get to know everyone a bit better,ā€ Oā€™Shea said.

ā€œBeing away from everything in Brisbane, you start bonding and gelling with the team because theyā€™re the only faces that you see.

ā€œEvery meal time youā€™re with them and then hanging out round the hotel, going out for team bonding activities, itā€™s really good.ā€

The midfielder added his side certainly werenā€™t easing up on the training pitch with the opening match of the new Hyundai A-League season just over three weeks away.

ā€œItā€™s quite tough obviously. They [the coaching staff] are not going to ease off on us with it getting quite close to the [Hyundai] A-League season now, so things are starting to ramp up,” O’Shea said.

ā€œIā€™m really excited. Obviously itā€™s my first season out here and everybody has a lot of good things to say about it so I canā€™t wait for the first game,ā€ Oā€™Shea said.

On Saturday evening the Roar will take on a Football Wide Bay Select side at the Fraser Coast Sports and Recreation Precinct.

Oā€™Shea said his side wouldnā€™t be taking Saturdayā€™s opponents lightly.

ā€œObviously, we donā€™t really know much about them but weā€™ll be preparing like any other game, trying to get as much work in as we can,ā€ Oā€™Shea said.

ā€œEverything now is just leaning towards the first game of the season so we wonā€™t be easing off.

ā€œWeā€™ll be trying to move the ball quickly and implement everything that the gaffers been trying to get into us in pre-season, it wonā€™t be any different than any of the other games weā€™ve played so farā€
