Midfielder Elise Kellond-Knight can’t wait to be playing back in front of the Brisbane faithful following four seasons away from the Club.

The Roar Women travel to Samford on Saturday to face NPLW QLD outfit Eastern Suburbs FC with a tick under three weeks to go until their Westfield W-League Round 1 clash against the Victory.

The upcoming season will be Kellond-Knight’s first back in orange since 2015 after stints in Germany, America and Sweden, and at Melbourne City.

“I’ve played away for a number of years and you miss that core network of support,” Kellond-Knight said.

“I’m just ready to put the jersey on and have a great time.

“I haven’t had a lot of football for the last couple of months so for me to be able to get out on the pitch and have a kick in front of the local crowd is a great opportunity.”

Saturday’s clash will be the first opportunity for many to see the Roar Women under new Head Coach Jake Goodship, who has been a settling figure according to Kellond-Knight.

“It’s been hard because players are coming in at different times, but Jake’s definitely putting the foundations in place,” the midfielder continued.

“He’s been really strong with the things he wants to develop within the team so we’ve been working on those key things.”

“I’ve never been up to Samford but I’ve heard it’s a great facility. It’ll be a great occasion to play at home in Brisbane,” Kellond-Knight concluded.
