Brisbane Roar defender Jordan Courtney-Perkins is making the most of a unique opportunity in Head Coach Robbie Fowler’s squad.

The defender became the youngest ever player to start a Hyundai A-League game for the Club in last month’s trip to Wellington before playing another 90 minutes in Saturday’s 2-0 win at home.

The BRFC Academy graduate made the record breaking start at age 17 years, 17 days after recently returning from the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil.

The young defender is proud to add the record to his resume but knows there’s plenty of work ahead of him.

ā€œItā€™s something that Iā€™m pretty lucky to have as a 17-year-old ā€“ itā€™s not something that a lot of 17-year-olds are doing,ā€ Courtney-Perkins said.

ā€œI feel blessed to have the opportunity but the hard work continues and I want to see if I can start becoming an important part of this team.ā€

Courtney-Perkins was grateful to be included in the team quickly after his return from international duty.

ā€œI had an awesome trip away [to Brazil] and that was a special experience for me and then to come back and be involved straight away is great,ā€ the youngster continued.

ā€œIā€™m thankful to the coaching staff for putting trust in me to be in this position.ā€

Courtney-Perkins returned to training on Monday morning with his teammates ahead of Saturday’s clash in Sydney against the Sky Blues.
