Brisbane Roar has claimed their first win at Suncorp Stadium in the Hyundai A-League 2019/20 season with victory over the Mariners.

Two second-half goals in six-minutes, courtesy of Roy O’Donovan and Scott Neville, was enough to see off Central Coast in a dominant display at Suncorp Stadium.

HIGHLIGHTS: Roar v Mariners

Speaking post-match, Head Coach Robbie Fowler was delighted with his side’s commanding performance against the Mariners.

“They hit the crossbar in the first half but other than that I thought we controlled the game from start to finish,” Fowler said.

“There’s been a few questions asked about how we start games but for me it’s how we finish the game.

Team

“I want to finish with goals and winning games because that’s by far the most important thing and I thought we were the dominant team again.”

It was a tight contest until the 61st minute when Roy O’Donovan guided home a cutback from Dylan Wenzel-Halls to open the scoring.

Scott Neville doubled the lead soon after with a towering header to notch his first goal in Roar orange.

The win extends the Roar’s unbeaten streak against the Mariners in the Hyundai A-League to 16 games.

The Roar next head on the road to Sydney to face the Sky Blues before returning home to Suncorp Stadium on December 13 for the first ever clash against Western United.
