A blistering 20-minute period has fired Brisbane Roar to its biggest win of the season at Marconi Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The result sends the Roar Women back in to the Westfield W-League top four ahead of a mouth-watering contest with Sydney FC on Thursday night.
The Roar headed into the break on level terms with the Wanderers after dominating large portions of the opening stanza and found themselves four goals to the good by the 70-minute mark as the hosts’ defence had little answer for an orange onslaught.
Allira Toby opened her account for the 2019/20 season, benefiting from a near miss from Hayley Raso before Raso then hit the target herself just 10 minutes later, beating Smith from long range.
Just six minutes after entering the contest, teenager Leah Davidson joined in on the fun, ending a blistering break with a great first touch & calm finish to make it three.
Jake Goodship’s side wasn’t done yet as Toby secured her brace, finishing high to the right just two minutes later to put the contest well beyond doubt.
It is the first time the Roar have scored four this season & was the perfect response to a defeat according to Hayley Raso.
āIt was amazing. Come off the back of a loss we came out, scored goals & did what we had to do,ā Raso said.
āIām really excited for the girls. We had to work on our finishing, we did & we scored four.ā
The Roar have little time to recover before their next test – an away date against Sydney FC on Thursday night (6:30pm KO QLD time)
