Our Brisbane Roar Academy Futsal program wrapped up its first major tournament on the Gold Coast over the weekend.
In the program’s inaugural year in 2020, 10 teams from the Academy’s futsal program made the trip south to compete in the Gold Coast International Futsal Cup on the Gold Coast.
Competing amongst more than 170 teams from throughout Australia & New Zealand, across four days of competition, our Brisbane Roar squads battled valiantly with three squads progressing to the knockout stages.
Our Brisbane Roar North U13 fell narrowly short of a semi-final berth, going down to 4-3 to a Waikato-based New Zealand oufit.
Both our Boys’ South U11 & Girls’ U14 won their respective bronze medals matches with 5-1 & 7-1 victories respectively.
The Brisbane Roar Academy Futsal Term 1 program will commence in February with the curriculum focusing on developing players’ individual skills & tactical knowledge of futsal.
