Warren Moon says he is both proud and privileged to be appointed as the new Head Coach of Brisbane Roar.
Moon takes the position with a handful of crucial games remaining in the Hyundai A-League 2019/20 season after spending the last year as the Clubās Academy General Manager.
As a foundation player for the Club, who played in its very first Hyundai A-League fixture, itās a proud moment for the NPL QLD Championship winning coach to now lead the Clubās Hyundai A-League squad.
āIām extremely proud and privileged to be given this opportunity. Itās one I will definitely not take lightly, itās a club that means the world to me ā Iām a foundation player, Iāve been here from Day 1,ā Moon said.
āIām also a proud Queenslander. I care about Queensland talent, I care about this club which has had a massive impact on the [Hyundai] A-League and in Queensland.
“Iām also really passionate about making sure that the pathway of Queensland players is ever present in our Club.
āI was proud and honoured to receive the position of Academy General Manager last year ā I was passionate about the job and project and weāve made great strides.
āIāve now been offered this role and Iām just as proud and passionate about taking this one on too.ā
Brisbane Roar Vice-Chairman says Moonās appointment was part of a long-term strategy for the Club, albeit implemented sooner than expected due to the effects of COVID-19.
āWhen we identified Warren to join the club just over a year ago, It was a plan for Warren to one day be moved into the position of Head Coach of the Brisbane Roar,ā Fong said.
āThings have moved a lot quicker than expected, but it the plan always to one day appoint Warren as the Head Coach of Brisbane Roar.
āThings moved quicker than expected, but weāre still very happy with how its assimilated.ā
Moon will take charge of his first fixture on Sunday when the Roar face Adelaide United at CBUS Super Stadium (7:30pm KO).
