Brisbane Roar extended their undefeated streak to six matches when they secured a 0-0 draw against Wellington Phoenix at Moreton Daily Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Joey Champness had the best opportunities of the match for Brisbane as defences and goalkeepers came to the fore in damp conditions.
Late in the game, young centre-back Kai Trewin drew praise for a sensational double block on David Ball which ensured Wellington were unable to snatch any more than a point.
The Roar registered 20 shots throughout the 90 minutes and Head Coach Warren Moon felt his side would have been deserving winners.
“To be honest, I thought we were the better team over the course of the game,” Moon said.

“They got into it late in the second half [when] we had to make some forced changes which probably shifted the momentum and had some good chances.
“They’re a good side with a quality threat in transition and they showed that tonight.”
Moon agreed when asked about Champness playing well but was keen to emphasise that there were some tidy performances all around.
“We had lots of good players tonight,” he said. “Again Kai Trewin was solid, Jay [O’Shea] was good and [Masato] Kudo did well when he was on the park.”
In the midst of a packed schedule, Moon’s men have another short turnaround heading into Wednesday night’s home clash with a Western United side who are one point ahead on the A-League ladder.
