Brisbane Roar fans have decisively chosen Riku Danzaki’s last-gasp winner against Western United in May as their favourite goal of the Club’s 2020/21 campaign.
With more than 700 votes and three quarters of the overall count, the Matchweek 19 strike was selected ahead of Jay O’Shea’s 25-yard curler against Adelaide United.
Danzaki’s deadly finish came in the 94th minute of a thrilling 2-1 home triumph as the Japanese attacker completed a cracking second-half comeback for Brisbane.
Under pressure to convert in the dying monents, the loanee unerringly fired past an in-form Ryan Scott after playing a pass, darting forward and being found in the box by Corey Brown’s inventive ball over the defence.
Danzaki, Brisbane’s A-League Golden Boot winner, had two entries in the six-goal shortlist, which was detemined by Roar supporters on social media.
The final vote was conducted as a poll on brisbaneroar.com.au running from Thursday, 24 June to Sunday, 27 June.
