2014/15 BRFC A-League Men Season Review

The 2014/15 season was Brisbane Roar’s tenth in the A-League with the club finishing in sixth position before being defeated 2-1 by Adelaide United in the Elimination Final.

Championship winning manager, Mike Mulvey lead the team for the first seven rounds of the season but was dismissed from his position in November following a slow start to the campaign.

Mulvey was replaced by Dutchman, Frans Thijssen who oversaw the side in the role of interim Head Coach for the remainder of the season.

Brazilian forward, Henrique top scored for the side with eight league goals, his equal most prolific season in front of goal during his time in Brisbane.

Roar’s off season recruitment saw Jamie Young, Adam Sarota, Daniel Bowles and Mensur Kurtisi arrive at the club while Matt Acton, Jerome Polenz, Luke De Vere and Andrija Kaluderovic all signed on mid-season.

Roar also competed in the first edition of the newly formed Australia Cup which was known as the FFA Cup at the time.

Roar defeated NPL Western Australian outfit, Stirling Lions 4-0 on the road in the Round of 32 before bowing out at the hands of eventual winners Adelaide United in the Round of 16.

The took part in the AFC Champions League for a third time, finishing third in a group containing Beijing Guoan, Suwon Samsung Bluewings and Urawa Red Diamonds, picking up wins against Urawa and Beijing along the way.
