ALM R11 Match Wrap: Brisbane Roar 1-2 Sydney FC

Brisbane Roar were edged out 2-1 by Sydney FC despite battling all the way in Saturday’s Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s Round 11 clash at Suncorp Stadium.

A Nikola Mileusnic strike wasn’t enough as a Fabio Gomes brace sealed the points for the Sky Blues.

Gomes opened the scoring inside a minute with a back post header before doubling the visitors lead with a flicked finish in the 41st minute.

Down but no out Roar hit back just minutes later when Mileusnic slammed home a finish from a tight angle after a brilliant through ball from Florin Berenguer.

Roar continued to grow in the second half and enjoyed the lions share of possession but were unable to find a finishing touch, coming closest with a point-blank Tom Aldred chance in second half stoppage time that the Roar skipper was unable to direct either side of Andrew Redmayne.

Saturday’s defeat leaves Roar in eighth position on the A-League ladder ahead of next of Sunday’s Unite Round clash against Newcastle Jets.
