ALM R13 Match Wrap: Brisbane Roar 1-3 Macarthur FC

Brisbane Roar endured a difficult night at Suncorp Stadium, going down 3-1 to Macarthur in Isuzu UTE A-League Round 13 action on Thursday.

Jonas Markovski’s first goal at Suncorp Stadium proved to be a mere consolation as the Bulls took all three points thanks to strikes from Ulises Davila, Raphael Borges Rodrigues and Jed Drew.

Davila opened the scoring in the 17th minute when he turned home a cutback form Drew after the Bulls forced a turnover high up the pitch.

Borges Rodrigues doubled the visitors lead early in the second half when he finished a Valere Germain cross at the back post.

Drew made it three six minutes later, when he reacted quickly after Borges Rodrigues pounced on a defensive slip and fired his initial effort against the post.

Roar replied quickly, pulling a goal back through Markovski, who headed home a Jay O’Shea cross at the back post on the end of a well worked short corner.

Markovski’s header was his second goal in as many games after the forward opened his account in the A-League with an effort against the Jets on Sunday.

Despite having 22 shots to the Bulls 14, Roar – who came closest in the final stages through Ayom Majok were unable to further impact the scoreline.

The hosts night went from bad to worse when new signing, Keegan Jelacic who came on as a second half substitute was shown a straight red card for a challenge on Clayton Lewis in the 88th minute.
