Pierias opened the scoring in the eleventh minute when he ghosted in at the back post and turned home a Yaya Dukuly cross with a first-time finish.

Roar immediately spurned an opportunity to equalise when Florin Berenguer spooned an effort over the bar with the goal at his mercy after Max Vartuli made a sprawling save to deny Jay O’Shea’s initial effort.

Two minutes later Brazete had the ball in the back of the net with a classy turn and finish only to have his effort overruled for offside following VAR review.

A  goal line Bart Vriends clearance denied Abubakar on the half hour mark with Vartuli beaten by the forwards goal bound header on the end of a Keegan Jelacic cross.

A minute later the Roar forward had the ball in the back of the net but the lineman’s flag was up for offside.

The visitors continued the threaten on the break with Dukuly forcing Matt Acton into a strong save at the near post in the shadows of half time.

Abubakar levelled the scores in the 58th minute when he unleashed from distance, with a finish that slipped under Vartuli for his fourth goal of the season, taking him level with Thomas Waddingham as the sides leading scorer this season.

Henry Hore returned via the bench after missing the sides last two matches with a groin issue and came within inches of finding the back of the net with a back post volley from a Jelacic cross in the 75th minute.

Ben Halloran who also entered the game as a substitute came closest in the dying stages when he cut in from the left and forced a fingertip save from Vartuli at the near post but ultimately both sides were forced to settle for a point.

Focus for Roar shifts to their final home game of the 2024/25 Isuzu UTE A-League season against Wellington Phoenix at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Get your tickets HERE
