ALM R17 Match Wrap: Perth Glory 3-2 Brisbane Roar

Brisbane Roar suffered a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Perth Glory in Isuzu UTE A-League Round 17 action at HBF Park on Saturday night.

Goals from Adam Taggart and Stefan Colakovski in a second half fightback cancelled out strikes from Nikola Mileusnic and Thomas Waddingham to seal the points for Perth.

The home side drew first blood in the 24th minute when Taggart ghosted into the area and sent his header into the back of the net on the end of a Glory set piece.

Glory’s lead lasted just five minutes with Mileusnic rifling a finish on the turn into the roof of the net after brilliantly bringing down an Antonee Burke-Gilroy cross for what was his fifth goal of the campaign.

Waddingham put Roar in front in the 36th minute when he bundled home a finish on the second attempt after having his initial effort saved by Oli Sail for his fourth goal of the season.

Glory found an equaliser in the 73rd minute through Taggart, who found the bottom corner with a first-time strike from the top of the box after Joel Anasmo opened up the Roar defence with a driving run from deep.

Five minutes later substitute, Colakovski slid home what proved to be the match winner after the hosts forced a turnover high up the pitch.

Florin Berenguer came closest to salvaging a result for Roar late on when his back post header found the side netting on the end of an O’Shea corner.

Saturday’s 3-2 defeat leaves Roar in eighth position on the A-League ladder, four points shy of the competition’s top six.
