A 91st minute Jonas Markovski equaliser saw Brisbane Roar take a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw with Western United in Isuzu UTE A-League Round 18 action at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.
Goals from Markovski and Thomas Waddingham saw Roar grab a point after the visitors lead twice through strikes from Nikita Rukavystya and Noah Botic.
Western United drew first blood in the sixth minute when Rukavystya pounced on a lose ball inside the area and finished for what would prove to be the only goal of the opening half.
Despite being hit with an injury blow that saw Jay O’Shea forced off at half time Roar came out firing in the second stanza and forced Matt Sutton into a pair of flying fingertip saves to deny headers from Keegan Jelacic and Tom Aldred.
Roar were rewarded for their attacking enterprise in the 58th minute when Thomas Waddingham rose highest to nod home from a Florin Berenguer corner for what his fourth goal in three games.
The visitors regained the lead in the 79th minute when substitute Botic sent a bullet header into the back of the net at the near post on the end of a United corner.
For the second time in the space of a few weeks Roar found an equaliser in stoppage time through Markovski who flicked home a finish after being picked out by a Corey Brown cross.
Friday’s 2-2 draw leaves Brisbane in eighth position on the A-League ladder with 22 points to their name.
Friday’s match also saw club stalwart Jack Hingert play his 250th A-League game for the club, only Matt McKay (272) has played more A-League games in Brisbane orange.
