ALM R2 Match Report: Brisbane Roar 3-0 Sydney FC

Brisbane Roar marked their return to Suncorp Stadium with a stunning 3-0 win over Sydney FC in Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s Round 2 action on Friday night.

A pair of Henry Hore strikes were added to by a Nikola Mileusnic goal as Roar routed to a first win in a home opener since the 2015/16 season.

Hore opened the scoring after just 45 seconds when he cut in from the left and blasted a deflected effort into the back of the net from a tight angle.

Mileusnic made it two in the 21st minute when he pounced on a scuffed Andrew Redmayne clearance before finishing into an empty net.

Hore netted his second of the evening in the 51st minute when he skipped past Rhyan Grant on the end of a brilliantly worked team mvoe and slammed a finish into the bottom corner to round out the 3-0 score line.

A number of Queensland’s brightest talents were on show with Thomas Waddingham starting and playing 70 minutes on his A-League debut while Quinn MacNicol came off the bench in the closing stages to become the Roar’s youngest ever player.

Aged just 15-years and 290 days MacNicol also becomes the third youngest player in Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s history.

Next up for Roar is a trip across the ditch to face Wellington Phoenix as part of a double header at Sky Stadium next Saturday afternoon.
