ALM R21 Match Wrap: Brisbane Roar 1-1 Melbourne Victory

Brisbane Roar were denied all three points at the death as they played out a 1-1 draw against Melbourne Victory in Isuzu UTE A-League Round 21 action at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Henry Hore’s third goal of the season had Roar in front before a 97th minute Kasey Bos strike saw the visitors snatch a share of the spoils.

Nathan Amanatidids came oh so close to scoring on home debut when he got in behind the visitors defence and rounded Mitch Langerak only to have his goal bound effort denied by a goaline Josh Rawlins clearance.

Hore opened the scoring in the 20th minute when he picked up the ball on the left touchline and drove into the area before producing several stepovers and skipping past Ryan Teague and unleashing a driven effort into the bottom corner at the near post.

Five minutes into the second half Amanatidis forced another one-on-one opportunity after driving through the heart of the Victory defence but Langerak made himself big to deny the forward.

Klein came within inches doubling Roar’s lead in second half stoppage time when burst into the area before firing a shot on the turn over the bar.

Bos equalised for Victory in the 97th minute when pounced on Teague’s deflected strike and finished into the bottom corner to level the scores.

Matt Acton put in a strong shift between the sticks in his first appearance of the season while Austin Ludwik, Asumah Abubakar, Nathan Amanatidis and Pearson Kasawaya all played their first home games for the club at Suncorp Stadium.

Focus for Ruben Zadkovich’s side shifts to next Saturday’s trip to face Adelaide United at Coopers Stadium.
