ALM R6 Preview: Brisbane Roar v Western Sydney Wanderers

Brisbane Roar look to go at least temporarily top of the Isuzu UTE A-League ladder when they take on league leaders Western Sydney Wanderers at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.

TEAM NEWS: Queensland X-Ray injury update

Roar come into Friday’s Round 6 clash off the back of a 2-1 win over Perth Glory last weekend.

Henry Hore and Jay O’Shea were on target as Brisbane moved into fourth place, just one point shy of the league leading Wanderers.

Last Sunday’s win adds to a 3-0 home victory over Sydney FC back in October as Ross Aloisi’s side look to continue their perfect start to life back at Suncorp.

The Wanderers head to Brisbane following a 1-0 derby win against Sydney FC at Allianz Stadium last weekend.

Mark Rudan’s side are undefeated so far this season and have the best defensive record in the league, only conceding two goals and keeping four clean sheets.

Both sides suffered injury blows heading into Friday’s clash with Corey Brown & Florin Berenguer set to miss out for the Roar whilst the Wanderers will be without Brandon Borrello.

Roar and Wanderers have met 35 times in ALM action, with Roar winning 13 times, Wanderers 11 and the sides sharing the points 11 times.

Brisbane Roar haven’t lost to Western Sydney Wanderers in their last six meetings (3W, 3D), with their last loss coming in May 2021.

Speaking pre-match Brisbane Roar Head Coach, Ross Aloisi said his side are building nicely ahead of Friday’s match.

“It’s still early and we’re still looking to improve on our own performances as a team but also their individual performances as well and players in general to improve, so it’s exciting,” Aloisi said.

“I really believe it’s exciting and I believe that the fans like watching the football that we’re playing, it’s different, it’s very attacking and let’s hope that there’s a big crowd out there especially in the Den tomorrow night to help us get the win.”

Friday’s match at Suncorp Stadium kicks off at 6:45pm AEST. Get your tickets HERE
