Brisbane Roar were defeated 2-0 by Melbourne Victory in their final fixture of the 2024/25 Ninja A-League season on Saturday afternoon.
The match remained scoreless until the 43rd minute when Nikki Flannery stunned with a strike to the top left corner of goal, out of Keeley Richard’s reach, to open the scoring for the hosts.
Returning from the break, Victory did not hesitate to extend their lead with a great goal from Matilda, Alex Chidiac, after getting her foot to a lobbed ball and nutmeg Richards to find the back of the net in the 54th minute.
Captain Tameka Yallop has had a stellar season, achieving the titles of second all-time goal-scorer in the league, first player to have five hat tricks and Roar’s leading goal-scorer.
With an unfortunate loss to conclude the season for Brisbane, the focus now shifts to building for the next.
