Brisbane Roar new recruit Aaron Amadi-Holloway says the squad is gelling nicely following Saturday’s first-up pre-season win over Redlands United.

The Welshman marked his first appearance in a Roar jersey with a goal as the Roar ran out 3-0 winners over their NPL opposition at Logan Metro Sports Complex.

Amadi-Holloway said to get some minutes in his legs in front of over 2,000 fans at the Club’s training base is really pleasing.

“It’s nice to get out in front of a decent crowd. Hopefully they’re happy with the performance and the result,” Amadi-Holloway said.

“I was delighted to get 45 minutes. I think the team played well, it was good to get that little bond started together with how each player is going to play, the understanding is getting better.

“It was good to play with my team mates for the first time and to get on the scoresheet. Overall it was a good start and it’s great to get the confidence going early doors.”

The Roar return to Logan Metro Sports Park this Saturday for a second pre-season clash against another NPL QLD opponent in Brisbane City FC (3pm KO).

A pre-season camp in Gladstone, which includes a fixture against a Gladstone Select side at Marley Brown Oval on Saturday, 27 July, is also on the agenda ahead of the new campaign’s first competitive fixture – an FFA Cup Round of 32 tie against Sydney FC at Leichhardt Oval on Wednesday, 7 August.

Amadi-Holloway says his first outing in Brisbane orange has him hungry to get out on the pitch again this weekend.

“It’s going to be a decent game at good standard, just like the game against Redlands [United],” Amadi-Holloway said.

“We’re gelling nicely. We’ve got a week away in Gladstone coming up, being with each other all day, every day, that’s going to help us gel again and get us ready for the upcoming cup game.”
