Berenguer: These are the Games We Play For

Brisbane Roar midfielder, Florin Berenguer says that his side don’t need any extra motivation ahead of Sunday’s Isuzu UTE A-League Round 20 clash against Sydney FC at Allianz Stadium.

Brisbane Roar head to Allianz Stadium hoping to continue their run of good results against an in form Sydney FC as they chase a top six position.

Confidence is high in the Roar camp after an impressive 3-2 win against Melbourne Victory last weekend, with the side having tasted defeat just once in their last five matches.

Brisbane come into the game in seventh position on 25 points, three points shy of top six with just seven rounds left to play, while Sydney are in fifth on 30 points.

Sydney is in strong form after going undefeated in their last seven, including a 4-1 victory in the derby against Western Sydney Wanderers.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s match against Sydney, Berenguer said that the players are ready to face Sydney away from home and come away with a win.

“It will be a tough game but at the end of the day, as a player that is the game you want to play.”

“You want to go in the big stadium and put yourself in the best position and win the game,” Berenguer said.

A win on Sunday would see Brisbane move to within two points of the fifth placed Sky Blues, the Roar midfielder added that every game is crucial for Brisbane’s hopes to achieve a top six position.

“Every game will be tough until the end of the season; we’ve got a tough schedule,” Berenguer said.

“There is no question about the difference in the ladder at the moment, we just have to win if we want to be up there, if we don’t take the points we know what the end of the season will look like.”

“We just had a beautiful win against Victory, so the confidence is there, it should be a good game, but we are ready to fight over there and try our best to get the three points.”

Sunday’s match at Allianz Stadium kicks off at 4:00pm and will be broadcast live on Paramount+ and 10 Bold.
