Brisbane Roar Midfielder, Florin Berenguer says the team are building something special this season following a 2-1 away win against Central Coast Mariners this past Sunday.
French Midfielder Florin Berenguer has had a flying start to his life in Brisbane after scoring in his second consecutive game week, earning him Man of the match honours this time.
After five years spent at Melbourne City, the attacking midfielder’s quality is no secret, and has already added a wealth of experience to Ross Aloisi’s side.
“I enjoy being part of this team [and] being under Ross who is doing great stuff,” Berenguer said.
It hasn’t been without roadblocks, however, as the team’s adversity has fuelled their desire.
“We bounced back from last week [after] a big loss from Phoenix…we needed a reaction today and we showed some great character, great team spirit and that’s what the staff have been working on since pre-season”.
“It was a tough night to be honest. It wasn’t an easy game but so glad for the team as we took those 3 points away,” he added.
Berenguer, looking beyond his own performances, notices an energy in the club that extends outside the players.
“You can see the players enjoy the way we play. I think people in the stadium and on TV enjoy also. We’re not playing as good as we could, but we are building into something great,” he said.
“It’s a good start to the season but nothing is done. It’s just the start…we still have [to build] on what we’re doing and keep improving every day, that’s what the staff want us to do”.
