Brisbane Roar-s charismatic frontman, Besart Berisha, has the chance to equal the club-s Hyundai A-League goal-scoring record when his side takes on competition new boys Western Sydney Wanderers at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday.

The club-s current top scorer, Sergio van Dijk, has 25 goals to his name and Berisha – who also has two AFC Champions League goals to his name – could reach the same number of goals this weekend if he finds the back of the net against Tony Popovic-s team.

Van Dijk scored his milestone in 50 games for the Roar (between 2008 and 2010) while Saturday-s round four Hyundai A-League clash will mark the 33rd time the Albanian has pulled on the orange jersey, indicating a significant strike rate of 24 goals in 32 appearances.

“I-m happy of course but I-m more happy that I-m at this club and I can help achieve something to win titles, like we did last year,” Berisha said.

“All these goals I score, it-s what I enjoy in Brisbane and you can see that every game.

“It will mean a lot to have the record but it will mean more to achieve something in the club and try to win titles.

“For me, it-s important that I work hard each game, each training session and help my team as much as I can.”

He-s been a popular figure around the Brisbane club since his first day in the country last August and it-s clear the respect is mutual – as always, Berisha was quick to credit his teammates for their part in his personal achievement.

“For me, it-s so important to enjoy the football and every day I enjoy training with the boys,” he said.

“I really enjoy the time with the staff as well, not just the coaching staff but everyone in the club – we all work so hard and work with heart and for me, this is so important.

“You can see how much effort I put in every game because if you see around football and see how hard our staff work hard for this club, it really is a pleasure for me to be here.”

Berisha won last season-s Hyundai A-League Golden Boot award with 19 goals in the regular season before two pivotal goals in last season-s Championship decider.

He bagged a brace in the Roar-s 5-0 win at Suncorp Stadium two weeks ago before scoring his 24th goal in Sunday-s draw with Wellington Phoenix in New Zealand.

Berisha and his Brisbane Roar teammates take on Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday, 27 October at Suncorp Stadium. Kick off is at 6.45pm. Tickets are available at Ticketek.
