Bowles boost for Brisbane

Brisbane Roar-s defensive ranks have received a boost with National Youth League player Daniel Bowles putting pen to paper on a Hyundai A-League contract for the remainder of the current season as a replacement for Luke DeVere.

Bowles, a member of the Roar-s inaugural NYL squad, has been a key part of a formidable Brisbane Roar Youth defence and has experience playing alongside the senior squad members, having trained regularly with the first team since the beginning of the season.

“I feel very honoured, it-s a great achievement to get a contract with such a great club,” the 19-year-old said.

“I-ve gone through the ranks for a while now and it-s great to get a taste of the first team.

“They are all good blokes and they-ve all welcomed me into the team.”

A natural centre-back, Bowles was confident that he suited the style of play Brisbane Roar had made characteristically their own this season – stating even as a defender, he knew the importance of holding onto possession and attacking with intent.

“I like to play as confidently as I can, keep the ball moving and play the way that Brisbane like to play,” the Queensland Academy of Sport and Australian Institute of Sport graduate said.

“If I get a chance to play, it would be a great honour.

“I will just keep training hard and if I get my chance, I-ll have to take it.”
